Minutes of Acklington Village Hall Committee Meeting
18th November 2010

We welcomed speakers Louise Currie from Community Action Northumberland and Ian Pillar the Village Hall legal expert who advised on transferring custodian trusteeship to the parish council.

Apologies received:
Members present: Eddie Critchlow, Sharon Thorpe, Bob Smailes, Alison Sharpe, Lorna Budge, Steve Thorpe, Graham and Barbara Cock, David Hammond, Vi Currie and Barbara King
Signing in of representative members from user groups
• Barbara King signed in as representative member from ACT.
• Vi was co-opted onto the committee.

The minutes of the last meetings on 14th October 2010 were read and approved

Correspondence received
• None.

Update on back room and garden
• Estimates now received of £48,995 and 53,240 – we have £30,000 and need another £30,000. Bob will draft a letter which could be sent out to the residents, Eddie will write to Jeff Watson
• The garden fence has now been wired – bill to come (funded by ACT). The garden will need levelling – Alison will speak to John Robson – form a sub-committee in Jan.

Maintenance, repairs and decoration
• The work party on Sunday 17th October was successful. Thanks to Eddie, Sharon, Bob and June, Alison, Lorna, Steve and Graham and Barbara the gents toilet was painted, the kitchen cleaned and an inventory taken of the equipment and the hall cleaned.
• Bob has fixed the sign on the ladies toilet.
• Graham and Barbara will obtain toilet brushes.
• An extra support bar is required for the disabled toilet. John Davison has provided a bar for Bob to fix.
• Vi will clean the floor in the gents toilet.
• The ladies toilet needs mending – Garry to look at.
User Groups
• ACT is planning to hold a Poppy weekend around 11/12th June to celebrate the British Legion. The future of ACT is to be discussed at their AGM in January.
• The WI currently has 23 members and will celebrate 90 years in 2011.
• The Parish Council have made a donation of £700 to the village hall. Thank you to be sent.
Fundraising
• Arrangements were made for the Christmas Coffee morning and table top sale Saturday 27th November 10-12.
• Christmas Quiz Saturday 11th December.
• Arrangements were made for Warkworth Choir Tuesday 7th December.

Any other business

The date of the next meeting was arranged for Thursday 20th January 2011 at 7pm.
