Minutes of Acklington Village Hall Committee Meeting
14th October 2010

Apologies received: Vi Currie and Barbara King
Members present: Eddie Critchlow, Sharon Thorpe, Bob Smailes, Alison Sharpe, Lorna Budge, Steve Thorpe, Graham and Barbara Cock
Signing in of representative members from user groups
• Bowls Club – Graham Cock
• Parish Council – Eddie Critchlow
• WI – Barbara Cock
• Church – David Hammond
• Sports Club – Lorna Budge
Barbara King is the ACT representative and will need to sign in at the next meeting. There are no representatives from Art Group and the School – to be followed up.
The following positions were elected:-
Chairman – Eddie Critchlow Vice-chairman Graham Cock Treasurer – Bob Smailes
Secretary – Sharon Thorpe

Steve Thorpe was co-opted onto the committee. Vi will need to be co-opted at the next meeting. (max 3)

The minutes of the last meetings on 9th September 2010 were read and approved

Correspondence received
• Insurance renewal due. Check cost of including user groups equipment on policy.

Update on back room and garden
• Richard Sullivan’s latest correspondence was passed around. Estimates of building costs are due by 24th October.
• John Robson, Vi and David Currie, Garry, Lorna and David Budge, Alison and Eddie dug the fence posts in. John will obtain the wiring etc.

Maintenance, repairs and decoration
• A work party was arranged for Sunday 17th October at 1pm to tidy and take an inventory of the kitchen and paint the gents toilet.
• Graham will sort out attaching missing sign for the ladies toilet.
• Toilet brushes are required for the toilets.
• The heating has been serviced.

Fundraising
• Christmas Coffee morning and table top sale Saturday 27th November 10-12. Alison is contacting potential stallholders. We will run a tombola, raffle and cake stall.
• Christmas Quiz Saturday 11th December
• Warkworth Choir have contacted Alison and a fundraising night is arranged for Tuesday 7th December. They will provide mincepies and us the mulled wine. Alison has contacted the school for them to come along and sing.
• All events need to be publicised in the Pelican and a flyer

Any other business
• Barbara had asked to bring up publicising the village hall activities on the website and Pelican. We had agreed at an earlier meeting that as we were publicly accountable the information should be freely available. Eddie would ask Barbara to put something about our projects in the Pelican/website.

The date of the next meeting was arranged for Thursday 11th November 2010 at 7pm. This has now been changed to Thursday 18th November at 7pm.
