About us
There are currently no public play facilities in
Acklington Parish. As the older children attend various
Middle and High Schools over a wide area there are
limited opportunities for them to get together.
Acklington Community Team applied for and received a
grant from Awards for All for £3,000 in September 2004
to set up a sports and activities group for young people
in Acklington parish.
The sports club has been running since 1/10/04 and is
supported by around 50 children each week.
The volunteer leaders, who are all parents, have been on
various courses including Community TOPS Sports Leader
Training, Child Protection and First-Aid courses, CRB
checks have been carried out and we have received
assistance through the Sports Club Development Project.
Some nights we
could do with an extra pair of eyes. If you
could be a volunteer helper (say once a month)
we would make you very welcome and you might
just enjoy yourselves.
