For the past 50 years it has been owned by a company of Alnwick Farmers (North East Livestock Ltd) and the present turnover is over 17 million pounds per year. We have two sales weekly. Monday is a Store Sale with a turnover of approximately 200 sheep and cattle. Thursday is a Fat Sale where cattle and sheep are sold for slaughter. In the busy season this can be as many as up to 5,000 sheep and lambs. Twice a year we hold a machinery sale. Our employees consist of: • 2 full-time outside assistants • 1 full-time secretary • 1 auctioneer • 1 fieldsman (whose job it is to travel around the farms collecting stock) • Up to 20 part-time helpers on sale days
